Tall, evergreen bamboo good for creating lush screens in dry or arid climates. Culms are green with subtle rusty mottling. New shoots are edible, and have beautiful multicolored striping in cream, red, purples, golds and greens. Grows to about 20′ tall and 1 ¼” in diameter. Originally found in the Yangtze Valley in China, it is known there as “Beautiful Bamboo” because of it’s lush, full foliage and attractive straight, upright growing habit. It is cold hardy to -5 degrees F, and grows well in full sun, but can tolerate some shade. Grows quickly and takes to pruning well. Strong 2″ canes are great for crafts and building. More drought tolerant than most.
