Named for its nearly solid culms, the pale green culm sheaths with dusty white edges are retained, creating an interesting pattern. Culms sometimes have a unique, attractive zigzag shape, and the internodes may bulge slightly. This runner grows 15’ to 20’ locally. Exceptionally hardy to wind, drought and aridity once well established. It’s air canals in the culms will also allow it to tolerate wet soils, but does best with good drainage. Effective choice for erosion control. Strong, flexible, solid culms resist splitting and make good building materials. Hardy to -20°F.
