Description
Hard to find species! A unique and pretty, heat tolerant, upright clumper from Yunnan Province, China. Has thorns on nodes, and blue-green canes that turn yellow-orange in the fall. Delicious edible shoots. Can withstand dry and hot conditions better than most similar clumpers, not very cold hardy (will drop leaves and look generally unhappy.) Needs moist, well drained soil. Shoots in fall. Slower to start but thrives after well established (second year.)
